Godflesh - In All Languages
An awesome best of/rarities that spans their career up until Hymns. Really great place to start if you're new to them or are a Jesu fan working your way backwards. It's almost what I would make as a godflesh mega mix except for the rarities I've never heard or the lack of hymns material (and the song christbait rising, what the fuck?) which kinda sucks. Love is a dog from hell, first track on the rarities disc is killer and there are some pretty cool things on disc 2. So if you're new to godflesh or Industrial and want to see the best it has to offer start here and then check the albums out based on what you like. Then listen to Jesu, cause that shit is bananas.

Jesu - Pale Sketches
A collection of throwaways from 2000-2007 Pale Sketches features alot of simple songs that are very catchy. I really like this one. The song "Can I go now?", the least Jesu song I can think of, is one of my favorites, probably second only to transfigure off conqueror or silver.

Aziz Ansari - Intimate moments for a sensual evening
Aziz from Human Giant/parks and recs stand up album. This dudes hilarious I put him up there with like David Cross, Nick Swardson, Patton, hedberg, etc. Weird humor and a couple great stories about when he hung out with kanye west and r kelly. Having just finished watching The Wire this picture is even more awesome, last time I saw this was before I saw the show.. Omar, nigga!!

Greymachine - Disconnected
Whoooo boy, if you thought Justin Broaderick had gone soft this albums for you. I hate to fall back on "oppresively heavy" as the adjective but if I had heard this labum before using that phrase I'd never use it for anything else. This album is massive, sometimes uncomfortable and it takes you to dank industrial areas with starving junkies dying of radiation poisoning. Imagine Swans being downloaded into some massive supercomputer capable of only hate. The melody when present is buried so deep you gotta dig it out and the vocals done by Isis aaron turner are fierce. Like Tae Diggs. Good album if you like and miss Godflesh though its even heavier than that.

A little humor ..
Varg Vikernes, upon his release from prison and concerning his new album "Den Hvite Guden" (wait for it) translated as "The White God"(bingo!):
As You might already know, my dear ladies and gentlemen, and other individuals too, I am no friend of the modern so-called Black Metal culture. It is a tasteless, low-brow parody of Norwegian so-called Black Metal anno 1991-1992, and if it was up to me it would meet its dishonourable end as soon as possible. However, rather than abandon my own music, only because others have soiled its name by claiming to have something in common with it, I will stick to it. The "black metallers" will probably continue to "get loaded", "get high", and in all other manners too behave like the stereotypical Negro; they will probably continue to get foreign tribal tattoos, dress, walk, talk, look and act like homosexuals, and so forth. Some of the "black metallers", their fans and accomplices will probably even continue to pretend - and actually believe - they have something in common with Burzum, but let me assure You; they don't! I play what can be described as some sort of metal music, all right, and they do too, but the similarities ends there. Freud wrote books. Tolkien wrote books. The similarities ends there.
Guess I, too, am behaving like the stereotypical negro. All except the tribal tatoos, even middle-class suburban white kids know that's lame, c'mon man. Thanks Varg for ALWAYS keeping things in perspective, atleast so far as my sanity is concerned.

Faustcoven - Halo of Burning Wings
Faustcoven's first album, black metal mixed with doom elements. This shit is GOOD. A little faster than the previous and possessing a very evil vibe. Sick of the tremolo/synth trend in black metal this dude took it way back to Asa Bay with a more 80s approach to BM shaded with the heaviness of doom. Someone else nailed it perfectly so I'll just leave it to them:
Built on a rock-solid foundation of old-school doom metal and both first-wave and second-wave black metal, Faustcoven has forged these two seemingly incompatible elements into a seething blackened whole. Crushing riffs that wouldn't seem out of place on one of Black Sabbath's 70's classics mingle in a cauldron with the kind of slashing blackthrash that brings to mind a mixture of classic Bathory and Darkthrone. In other words, three pivotal branches of metal's evilution (spelling intentional, thank you very much) are fused here with ample success. Kicking off with "under The Pagan Hammer", a self-described deathmarch for the fall of Christianity, the songs here will simply embed themselves in your skull and refuse to budge. Then "Annointed In Flames" speeds up slightly, but not into the blast fest you might be expecting. This is pure old school, so you won't find any grindcore elements. Just a brain-squashing weight created by sludge, morbid atmosphere and grime. -The Metal Crypt
Catchy vocals too. It's sing-a-long black-metal, like Nachtmystium or Living Color.
Only in 192kbps because the internet is too kvlt for high quality rips I guess. Just glad I didn't find a gramaphone rip recorded inside of a trashcan inside of a dumpster located within a hangar built inside a wind tunnel. Kriiiieg.

Faustcoven - rising from beneath the earth
A black/doom (hell yes!) band from, where else, Norway. It's blackened doom metal, slower than their first album. Heres from the wiki-wiki:
I wanted to do something completely different, something darker and heavier. I also am heavily into old doom metal, and saw that the sound and heaviness of bands like Saint Vitus and Pentagram was very compatible with the more evil and frentic approach of Bathory, Venom and Mercyful Fate. And I just loved the idea of combining it into something both heavy and sinister.
So yeah, what are you waiting for?

Salome - Salome
Great band from the D.C. area, just saw them the other night for the first time opening for my friends band The Dry Season(www.myspace.com/thedryseasonbaltimore) and Jucifer suffice to say they fucked shit up. Really crushing old school doom, with shrieking black metally howls and mid-range growls. Apparently she sings on the new Agoraphobic Noselbeed album. I had no idea that the vocals were female, fucking fierce. Good album with black tides being the standout for me. I'll upload their split with Thou tomorrow.

Eight Hands for Kali - Mount Meru
The first release for these doomy upstarts. A little more varied than Himalayan Necromantia (which is to expected considering thats one long song), some great, some merely just really good. Of course when it comes to this sort of music really good is usually good enough for most of us so it's probably worth a download if you can't listen to dopethrone or yob anymore for a few days. Sorry, can't find a picture of the album that doesn't look washed out.

Eight Hands for Kali - Himalayan Necromantia
Eight Hands for Kali is a super group of sorts featuring Electric Wizards current bassist, members of Dragonauta, Natas and Great Coven. Himalayan Necromantia is one 55 minute march into the afterlife, oppressively heavy, cosmically groovy and hypnotic as fuck. Its supposed to be a sonic reproduction of the tibetan book of the dead and features spoken word of that text by Brant Bjork in parts. Play it loud, space the fuck out and drift away.

Mirrorthrone - Gangrene
The Deep Blue - Antarctic Abyss
Like Om? Like Sleep more? Then this is for you, it meanders into the territory Om has been building over the last few releases but keeps a foot firmly in the Sleep camp. Meditative and crushing, hypnotic yet unrelenting the two tracks on this album are awesome, groove-laden and long. Not for everyone but maybe it should be. The world might be a better place.

mirrorthrone - First two albums
Mirrorthrone is the brain child of Vladimir Cochet, some of the best epic black metal/progressive-y music around.
"Of wind and weeping"
The first full length, melodic blackish metal with amazing clean vocals, incredible production and multiple layers of instrumentation and production. Of Wind and Weeping is actually a compilation of material that was recorded over the span of two years. The stuff fits together pretty well, but you can’t help but notice that the quality of much of the earlier material, found at the end of the disk, is below the standard of the more recent stuff.
"Carriers of Dust"
The amount of elements and sounds cascading throughout may be overwhelming at times. However, like much experimental/progressive music, the more effort one puts into the listening of the music, the more one will enjoy it. Mirrorthrone seamlessly blend epic, melodic, technical, brutal, atmospheric, and experimental aspects with classical-influenced black/death metal

Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics
Released in 97, this is one of the most influential doom metal albums in history. Imagine taking a whole bunch of mushrooms and heroin, climbing into your spaceship armed only with a bong then launching through a tear in the veil of the cosmos into another galaxy where even the stars are black and hum with an evil resonance; the very fabric of this dimension hates you and as you spiral through taking bong rips into the void, a mouth of the giant wyrm, a space wizard shows up at your side, magicking your shape onto a slow, crushing, powerful path THROUGH this evil hugeness and out the other side. As the maw closes behind you try to thank your Savior but he's already gone, drifting away in a haze of purple smoke and bonus tracks.

Dungen - Tio Bitar (2007)
Surreal, psychedelic rock sung in swedish which only adds to the effect. Shifts between upbeat numbers and softer ones the production is very thick and there is tons of instrumentation all over the songs. You'll hear different things everytime. Another must have for fans of all things good.
